This traditional 19th Century Detached Normandy Cottage lies in the sleepy idyllic hamlet of Launay. Apple orchards, ambling farmhouses scattered with a melange of farm animals all lie around the cottage. This is a delightful holiday home in easy reach of all the channel ports, Caen being just an hour’s drive north away. A perfect base for exploring the delights of the “Orne” and the Normandy countryside. The old medieval town of Ferte-Mace, full of charming shops, restaurants and supermarkets and superb Park with large lake with small sandy beach (swimming at times), is only a ten minute drive. The elegant spa town of Bagnoles de l’Orne with casino, swimming pool, tennis courts (indoor and outdoor), golf course, riding, evening entertainment, and the famous Sir Lancelot of the Lake celebrations is 15kms away. Fine food and accompanying drinks play a large role in the local life of the “Orne”. Colourful Weekly Markets are all part of the scene. Local bakery and bar are just half a mile away in the village. There are also a wide range of activities to pursue.
Go riding in the morning at the local stables. Hire some bicycles to tour the countryside, or go rambling in some of the many miles of signposted footpaths, or simply savour the delights of Flers, Alencon and Argentan, or perhaps take the train from Briouze (small market town 7 minutes drive) to Paris, a two and a half hour trip from cottage to capital.
