A delightful detached 'Chocolate Box' thatched cottage, Grade II listed, retaining its charming period features, believed to be one of the oldest 16th century cottages in Branscombe.
Idyllically situated in a large cottage style garden with its 500 year old yew tree and surrounded by beautiful National Trust countryside, in this picturesque seaside village. A delight for birdwatchers, with gold crests in the yew tree and buzzards, red kites and peregrine falcons soaring the skies above the cottage.
The lovely beach with its licensed restaurant, cafe and shop is a five minute drive away or reached by walking through the bluebell woods and along the spectacular Jurassic coastline. The Fountain Head traditional inn serving excellent home cooked food and local brews is only a stone's throw away. Also in the village is the renowned Mason Arms Inn serving an 'A la Carte' menu, a working forge, Old Bakery Tea Rooms and Gardens with a working water mill nestling nearby to Branscombe's beautiful Norman church.
Many walks on the doorstep along the spectacular coastline and in the wooded coombes and beautiful valleys, with their abundance of wildflowers in the hedgerows.
The picturesque fishing village of Beer and the Regency coastal town of Sidmouth, with all its amenities, are just a short drive away. Sidmouth's Donkey Sanctuary, famous for homing thousands of donkeys in acres of pastureland with lovely walks to Weston Mouth is well worth a visit.

September 2017 Amazing !!!!! If you are looking for that special quintessential cottage, then look no further!! Yew Tree cottage is an amazing place to stay in an amazing location. This character cottage oozes with charm and truly is a unique place to stay and unwind. The cottage is extremely well equipped, a traditional stone floor runs through the ground floor, we found this particularly useful after a muddy dog walk. In fact, a great place to stay with your dog as there are great walks literally on your doorstep including a great walk from the cottage to the beach. We can't wait to return to Yew Tree in the very near future. John G
September 2017 Just spend our 4th time at Yew Tree in Branscombe in June , this lovely cottage is perfect for a relaxing break as one of the few cottages in the area that has a lovely secluded garden with lovely lawns. One can sit down with a long drink well into the evening catching the sun on the patio area and watching the Buzzards hovering over the hills. The cottage is well maintained with all necessary facilities to make life easier but keeping its charm and cosiness. We have found lots of walks from the cottage in all directions with the bonus of two lovely country pubs for refreshments. We have found the local Bus Service is good for visiting Sidmouth or Beer with lovely walks back from both.
Bonus for all 5 of us when we stay is a parking space outside and an outhouse for the bikes, fishing gear and sunbeds we bring and keeps the snug cottage clear of equipment. The other bonus is allowing a small pet, my dog Bramley has been down a dozen times over the years and it is great allowing the roam on the enclosed garden. We love the use of the Wood burner on our winter/autumn months visits plus we have found the locals very helpful and look forward to catching up on the lovely Branscombe village life on return visits. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Christmas/New Year 2016/2017We've just returned after our holiday at Yew Tree Cottage and I'm writingto ask you to thank the owner, Barbara, for all the effort she went to, tomake the Cottage so Christmassy and welcoming. The decorations were lovely, and we really weren't expecting them. She even left small giftsfor the children, which we really appreciated. Please could you pass onour thanks to Barbara? We very much enjoyed our stay.Meg Williams and Family.
Thank you so much for staying in the Yew Tree Cottage. We has a wonderful week in Branscombe and thank you for your warm welcome ( flowers on the table). Your cottage is so cosy and the garden is beautiful.
We were a little bit “scared” to go to England because it would always rain here …. And yes…. we did have rain every day. Despite the rain we made lovely walks every day , even the children (9 and 12 years ) liked it. We are sunkissed anyway.
We enjoyed the food at the Fountain head and the homemade cakes at the bakery. Today is our last day and we will walk again by another route to the sea and enjoy the sun.Tomorrow after a peaceful relaxed week in Yew Tree we will visit London (for the first time). We will recommend Yew Tree Cottage.Thank you and best wishesMarcel, Mels and family from The Netherlands 2015
